What Are Dental Implants And When Are They Used
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed in your jaw for a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are usually performed by periodontists. They are a great way to replace one or more missing teeth. They are an ideal option for people in good general health, but have lost oral teeth or teeth due to periodontal disease, injury, or other reasons.
If you have lost a tooth or teeth, you will probably be the possibility of dental implants or a bridge to replace the missing tooth or teeth. Dental implants are very involved and time consuming, but more tooth-saving than traditional bridge work. This is because the implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. The steps for a dental implant generally include:

4. The impression is sent to the lab for a custom implant crown.
5. A few weeks later, your missing tooth is replaced by the crown and the treatment is completed.
In short, what happens during a dental implant procedure is that an implant post is placed in the bone and gum tissue and bone heal around it.
